Speyside Distillery release Limited Edition Beer Cask finish Single Malt giving Europe’s biggest Harley-Davidson Chapter Rally a taste of the Cairngorms
Over 4,000 bikers arrive in the Highlands for Europe’s biggest Harley-Davidson rally at the end of August, where they can park up their bikes and sample a special limited edition beer cask finished whisky which has been created in their honour.
Speyside Distillery, to celebrate their partnership with Thunder in the Glens ®, has produced a limited edition bottling of only 500 bottles of their ruby black Beinn Dubh Single Malt, finished in an oatmeal stout cask, making this release even more special as they have never previously released a stout cask finish. The Thunder in the Glens ® 2017 event takes place from August 25 to 28 in Aviemore
Beinn Dubh – which has established itself as the local whisky of the Cairngorms – was launched at the 2015 rally to rave reviews and since that time has gone on to exceed expectations by breaking into a number of international markets.
Just 500 bottles of the whisky have been produced. Last year a limited edition 20 year old commemorative bottle was released and sold out within days and this year there is a waiting list for our new edition.
Speyside Distillery Chief Executive Officer John Harvey McDonough says, “The feedback we have received about Beinn Dubh, from people gathered at Thunder in the Glens over the last few years, is that it is a great dram and what are we releasing next?.
“They clearly enjoy our dram and we wanted to bring them something different by way of a stout cask finish, the first time we have released a whisky finish of this type. We also wanted to bring something special in support of our partners at Dunedin Chapter and HOG (Harley Owners Group) “
Thunder in the Glens® Rally Co-ordinator George McGuire says that Harley-Davidson enthusiasts from all over Europe will be arriving in the Cairngorms later this month.
He adds, “We are delighted that our partners at Speyside Distillery have chosen our event to launch for the first time a Stout cask finish
“I know that many of our members were waiting in anticipation of the next release and will be looking forward to getting off their bikes at the end of the day and enjoying a wee dram of Beinn Dubh.
“We were among the first people anywhere in the world to sample Beinn Dubh when it launched in 2015. We are beyond delighted that the distillery has sought to recognise this friendship by releasing some of its rarest whisky for our visitors to enjoy.”
In addition to the limited edition bottling, Speyside Distillery is sponsoring volunteer recognition awards during which the contribution of helpers who give up their time to make the event a success, will be honoured.
The distillery’s very own team of Fallen Angels – as opposed to Hell’s Angels – will be in Aviemore throughout Thunder in the Glens® weekend.
Beinn Dubh’s taste is deep and dark: rich fruits, currants and chocolate dominate at first, but these gradually give way to both bitterness and sweetness. The special limited edition Thunder in the Glens costs £95.. Very few bottles are available, but can be ordered directly from firstname.lastname@example.org or through the Beinn Dubh website.
